What We Believe

We believe in the Triune God – One God who is revealed to us in three persons.

  • God the Father – who created the heavens and earth and calls us beloved children.

  • God the Son – Jesus Christ who is our Savior who died on the cross and rose again to defeat sin and death and welcomes us to eternal life.

  • God the Holy Spirit – who gathers the church and sends us out to serve.

St. Paul’s Lutheran is a member of Northwest Ohio Synod of the Evangelical Church of America.

We believe that the Bible is the Word of God which tells the story Good News of Jesus Christ and serve serves as the source and norm of Christian teachings.

We believe that we are all sinners who mess up and hurt God and others in the things that we do and fail to do. And because of our sin we all are in need of God’s grace and forgiveness.

We believe that we all are saints. That we are loved, forgiven, and made righteous by God.

We believe that we are saved by grace through faith alone. Grace is a gift we receive from God and is something we can never earn.

We believe that works are a response to the gift of grace we have received, and that God calls us to love and fed and care for our neighbors and the world.

The Northwestern Ohio Synod is one of 65 synods of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The congregations and parishes of the Northwestern Ohio Synod are comprised of approximately 55,000 people who love and serve Jesus through diverse ministries that serve people and communities throughout this synod.

As members of the ELCA The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, we believe that we are freed in Christ to serve and love our neighbor. With our hands, we do God’s work of restoring and reconciling communities in Jesus Christ’s name throughout the world.
