Holy Week & Easter Schedule

Palm Sunday – 4/14/19 Palm Sunday Service at 10:30 AM

Palm branches and hallelujahs mark Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem. All youth/children are invited to gather in the narthex during the prelude and take part in the procession of palms. Angel ringers rehearsal will begin at 9:00 AM. Sunday school and confirmation will begin at 9:30 AM.

Maundy Thursday – 4/18/19 At St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Waldo at 7:00 PM

Men from the Waldo area churches will create a picture of the Last Supper as we hear Jesus’ mandate to receive the body and blood. The service ends with the women stripping the altar.

Good Friday – 4/19/19 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Waldo at 7:00 PM

We gather at the foot of the cross as the light in the sanctuary is extinguished and John’s gospel tells the story of the crucifixion. The service ends in silence with the solemn reproach from God, “O my people, O my church, what more could I have done for you?”

Easter Vigil – 4/20/19 at St. Paul’s Lutheran in Waldo at 5:00 PM

The vigil marks the transition from Good Friday to Easter Morning, for we do not know when Jesus rose. The service begins around the New Fire as the Paschal Candle is lit and leads the procession into the church. Candles, skits, lessons, song, asperges (sprinkling of baptismal water,) Holy Communion, and the dressing of the sanctuary for Easter make this service rich with movement and engaging for all ages.

Easter Sunrise – 4/21/19 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Waldo at 7:00 AM

Service begins quietly as the gospel is read and welcomes in the news of the resurrection. Holy Communion will be shared and service ends with joyous celebration. Breakfast will be served after the service.

Easter Egg Hunt – 4/21/19 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Waldo at 9:30 AM

The youth will be hosting an Easter Egg Hunt for the children following breakfast. All are welcome!

Christ is risen!! He has risen indeed! Children/youth are given bells to ring out with our hallelujahs as we celebrate the resurrection. Holy communion will be celebrated. The special offering envelope will be designated to the Mission Trip Love Offering.
